With the revolution in the field of broadband technology more and more individuals are choosing to go to work from home for the freedom, flexibility and convenience that it offers.  A widespread variety of jobs and businesses can be done from home with relatively modest equipment, low overheads and running costs.  All that is needed to be successful from home is a suitable place to work, a pc or laptop with broadband connection and a phone line.

As with the majority things there are advantages and disadvantages to being a home employee and not everybody will be suited to do it.  A few of the advantages of working from at your house include more flexibility with working hours so you can orchestrate work around your domestic routine which is especially practical if you have children in school and need to drop them off and collect them.  One off the biggest plusses of working from  home is no more commuting.  This can save hours every day that are wasted sitting in a car or on a train as well as saving thousands of pounds each year.  If you are running your own home-grown business there is the chance to be your own boss, have greater freedom and potentially earn more money than in your previous line of employment.  Also nearly all people who work from home find that their overall quality of life is higher.
Of course there are also some downsides to working at at your house.  The first of these is that for the reason that you are working from home you are continuously at work and may well find yourself unable to get away from your job and end up putting more hours in.  A few people realize working from home to be quite isolating as there is observably less human contact and pine for the banter and camaraderie that is part of company life.  If you are running your own home concern work and income may not be guaranteed and you may not get paid if you are sick or have time off.
Working from home will not suit everyone.  It will suit individuals who are very self-motivated, who can work by themselves with no one to fall back on, who are disciplined and motivated and who are prepared to work extended hours in order to earn an adequate amount of money.
There are a range of jobs and businesses that can be done from home and there will be something that amongst them that most individuals can do. Teleworking is a popular home working job because it gives flexibility to the employee and saves on overheads for the employer.  Self employed people and freelance workers often choose to work from especially if their work is internet based. Choosing whether or not to operate from home is a problematical decision and the pros and cons should be weighed carefully ahead of any decision is made.  In my view the benefits far outweigh any disadvantages simply for the lack of restrictions and flexibility it offers as well as the stress saved by not having to commute every day.
