So many people get recruited directly into one company by one of their friends that they don’t get the chance to choose. Many of these people have never heard of MLM before. If you do need help in choosing a Network Marketing opportunity, you will have to be prepared to do some research and definitely give alot of thought to your decisions.
I disagree with alot of people who say that it does not make any difference which company you join.
1. Do you love the products? Consider whether you would be prepared to sell them to your Mother. Because if you would not, will you be able to happily sell them? You need to have complete confidence in them, otherwise people will be able to see right through you. If you would use the products even if you did not join the business, then maybe they are right for you.
2. Have you considered the market for the product? Remember if everyone is touting the same kind of product, your customers will have already seen similar. Too many Network Marketing companies are presently selling new ‘unique’ health products. You really need something with great potential, a big market, and something which is current.
3. One essential is to have a low startup cost. A high start up cost will put off a large portion of prospects. Low costs have always been one of the most important selling points of an MLM business. It brings starting your own business within almost anyone’s budget. Many people could not afford to get involved in their own business, so MLM is accessible to many more people.
4. A company’s retention rate is also very important. A low retention rate means your residual income will fail. Retention rates in Network Marketing are generally not good. Many MLM’s dream of how easy this business would be if only they did not lose distributors so regularly. If a company has a low retention rate, you can expect to have to find lots more distributors in order to get paid the same amount as you would in another company with a better retention rate!
5. Your compensation plan is very important. It can be hard to understand which type of compensation plan would be better for you. All you can do is find out what the company that you are interested in has and then do some research on it. Unless you know alot about many different compensation plans, you will mainly need to use your common sense. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
6. Check out the management of the company. Are they well-known and liked? Do they have a proven track record in business, either in MLM or direct sales? Research the company fully. Find out how long it has been operating; many MLM companies go under in their first year. Check out the growth it has had, what assets it owns and if it is well thought of.
