Internet’s Level Playing Field Is a Great Opportunity for Small Businesses
Saturday, November 28th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedI just saw the news and got another extraordinarily severe account of the state of the American economy. The Sep job number (9.8%) had just been released, which translates into more than 15 million folk currently jobless.
Not just that, but the reporter also announced that the US had just lost its quest for the 2016 Olympics (and the billions of dollars that would have been invested in preparations and new construction for the assorted Olympic platforms and rooms for the many millions of visitors, i.e., job roles for North Americans).
Consequently, instead of watching the Olympics from Chicago, we’ll have to follow them from Rio de Janeiro.
I also watched Rep. Alan Grayson give as example stats from a Harvard study finding that 44,789 US people die each year because they lack proper medical care – and that converts into 122 North Americans dying every day because they don’t have medical benefits.
So what’s the average Yankee to do? Especially those 15 million underemployed Americans?
I suggest that rather than simply lounging around bewailing the situation, or becoming increasingly frustrated as they persist in their fruitless job searches, many of these folk should create their own net businesses.
When I invest in the market, one of the criteria I look for are corporations that have ‘big moats’ i.e., they have such a powerful leadership position on their industry or market (thru exclusive inventions or other competitive advantage) that it is extremely difficult for others to enter into that market and compete with them.
The Net isn’t like that – it has nearly no ‘moat,’ meaning there aren’t many entry barriers.
Nearly anyone with a P.C. and access to the internet can build an internet business because the web offers a level playing field (i.e, even the smallest organization can confront the very biggest companies ). This is true whether you are a young person just out of school (or never even attended school) to the Boomers and Seniors who are either considering retirement, or already retired.
‘Accumulated knowledge’ looks to be the single real moat that exists with respect to beginning an online organization. The great thing about having a moat that is made essentially of knowledge – is that anyone can quickly cross that moat – simply by being inspired enough to learn the tools of the field.
Affiliate marketing programs are doubtless the simplest methods to start an online company, and many of them also deliver coaching regarding the product that you’ll be marketing for them.
The issue with the majority of online opportunities is that their training is bounded, and typically focused only on educating you about their product (s). Unfortunately, you will have to have more information and skills than that.
A superb starting place for gathering all the rest of the knowledge about internet marketing that you’ll need is to sign up for the Online Success for Beginners classes.
