How to Use Video to Generate More Sales

A key factor in getting people to buy from you is trust and credibility. If people trust you and believe you to be credible, there is a much better chance they will buy from you. That is why word of mouth marketing is so effective – because friends typically trust their friends and believe them to be credible.

The beauty of video is that people get the chance to see you as a ‘real’ person. You’re not just some shmuck hiding behind a computer. You’re the real-deal. And that is attractive to buyers.

For example, have you ever noticed how many emails you get from every Tom, Dick and Harry the day a new product is launched?  How many of them do you believe have actually reviewed the product and loved it so much that they just had to recommend it to you? Versus how many of them are just recommending it to you to earn an affiliate commission?

Sure, some of them are genuine, but which ones?

This begs the question: “How can I stand out from the crowd, and be believable?”

The answer is video! Think about it. If you get ten emails from ten different people all recommending the same product, along with one video from one person recommending the sameproduct, which is most believable?

If the people who emailed you have previously built up a certain level of trust and credibility with you that will help, but the guy who sent you a video of him reviewing the product has an advantage over and above the rest.

Why? Because by nature of video itself, it proves to you that he is telling the truth!  He actually does have the product and has reviewed it. He really does recommend it. Sure, he may be out to get some commissions too but ultimately you know that at the very least, he knows what he is talking about (the product) and he is in a legitimate position to recommend it.

Once you finish this article, visit both www.video.google.com and www.youtube.com.  On each of these sites take a moment to quickly look around and sign up for your free accounts. They are both very user friendly. You basically just enter in your account personal information.

Then, once your account is set up and you have created some videos, you’ll be able to start uploading them from your computer to their site via the ‘browse’ feature they provide.

Your objective is to drive traffic to your site using the videos that you create. If you do it well, targeted audiences will not only view them but they will also get passed around for free — and possibly even posted on other people websites and blogs!

Ultimately, you’ll want to create and submit as many videos per month as you can and submit them to as many video sites as possible.

Remember these are amateur videos we are talking about. And they should only be between 1 – 5 minutes in length. Don’t make them much longer than that.  Otherwise, people will get bored and leave.

The idea here is just to give them enough information to spark there curiosity and get them to want to visit your website.

How to Generate Sales With Squeeze Pages

December 29th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

The first rule of Internet marketing is simple:  capture information!  You want a name and email address for your visitors so you can follow-up with them.  If you take your visitors straight to a sales page, the chances of converting those visitors into customers is extremely low.  They are naturally skeptical of any sales messages they are exposed to and are therefore more likely to give you their name and email address on their first visit to you than they are to give you money.

So your first goal is to capture information, then ask your customers to buy from you.  The way you capture information is with a squeeze page.  A squeeze page is a basic web page that teases your visitors with the promise of receiving valuable information for free.  All they have to do in exchange for that information is give you their name and email address.

They are raising their hand to say they are interested in what you have to offer.  Once you get their attention, it’s your job to convert them from subscribers to paying customers.

What do you need on a squeeze page to make it effective?

The subscription box should fit “above the fold” on your computer.  In other words, visitors should not have to scroll down to find the box to subscribe.  You only have a matter of seconds to grab their attention.

If they have to do any work to find out what to do to get this information you’re advertising, they’ll move on to the next page.

Also, the only option on your squeeze page should be to subscribe to your newsletter.  No links to other sites.  No links to other pages within your site.  No link to your “contact me” page.  Give them only one option, and they will have only one choice:  subscription!

If you are worried about losing potential customers by not taking them directly to your sales messages, don’t.  You want customers who are going to be with you for a while and people whom you can groom into hyper-responsive customers.

If a visitor isn’t even willing to stick with you long enough to provide you with her name and email address, do you think she’ll want to stay with your business for years to come?  No!

Visitors who leave squeeze pages without taking action are not high potential lifetime value customers.  Let them go and concentrate on converting those who do subscribe.

Once they fill in their contact information, they become a subscriber to your list.  Now you have a chance to convert them with your email marketing campaign and on your redirect page that you take them to once they subscribe.

What is Email Marketing and Why is it Lucrative?

December 29th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

To be become a lucrative email marketer, there are two things you will need: an ezine/newsletter with relevant information and a list of email addresses. Your ezine provides the information people want and your list provides you with a targeted customer base to market to.

Email marketing is sending your relevant marketing messages by way of email, to a list of subscribers who have given you the permission to do so.

Always make sure the people on your list are ‘opting’ to receive your information via email and keep in mind that they only are requesting information relevant to your ezine.

If you have an ezine that promises healthy recipes in their inbox once a week, that is what they have given you permission to send.

Sending any information other than what you have promised and what people are expecting is considered ’spam’ because they did not request it, or give you permission to send it to them.

Having a list is the most important part of your business. It means you must have a targeted audience, an audience that you build a relationship with and you want to build a specific, one-to-one type of relationship because that is the only type worth building.

Whether your list is made up of one person or 100,000 write your messages as if you are writing to one person. This is a way to personalize your one-to-one relationship with your list of people.

If you were in the market to buy a phone, who would you prefer to buy the exact same phone form: Marketer A, whom you know nothing about or Marketer B, whom over time, you have learned to know, like and trust through the emails he/she have been sending you?

The answer is Marketer B right?

The subscribers on your list are not going to give you money just because you send them an offer. First, they need to know, like and trust you. The type of relationship you build with your list is extremely critical to your success.

After all, like a friend, you are the person they know, like and trust and who provides them with the valuable information, products and services they are seeking.

If you didn’t have a list and your marketplace were to dry up and disappear tomorrow, what would you be left with? You would be left with nothing.

With a list, you still have a targeted audience of existing customers and potential customers to sell to. Having that receptive audience will make it much easier for you to ’start over.’

Relationships, good relationships, last a lifetime. In business, that is the best kind of insurance you can carry and you don’t have to pay any monthly premiums!

The relationships you have built with the people on your list remain, regardless of market fluctuations. Instead of finding a completely new customer base, all you have to do is determine what else the people on your list want and give it to them.

How to Avoid Spam Accusations with your Emails to Subscribers

December 29th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems used to send unsolicited bulk messages and is universally unwanted.  As an email marketer, this is something you want to avoid.

There are two main types of subscribers you can acquire: single opt-in and double opt-in.

Single opt-in implies permission. Someone has given you explicit permission to send them an email in some capacity by entering their first name and email address and clicking on the submit button.

Double opt-in takes this process one step further.  After the individual enters his first name and email address and clicks submit, he is sent a confirmation email.  This email asks to click on a link to confirm that he does, in fact want to be subscribed to your newsletter.  He only becomes a subscriber of your ezine or newsletter after clicking on that link.

I personally recommend acquiring only double opt-in subscribers as they are more valuable than single opt-in for three reasons.

One, the confirmation email gives the subscriber a chance to verify that he does want to receive your newsletter.  His subscribing was not in error.

Two, the confirmation email makes it difficult for people to subscribe their buddies.  For example, if Joe subscribes Bill to your newsletter and Bill receives a confirmation email, Bill can then choose whether or not he wants to be subscribed.  In a single opt-in process, this would not happen and Bill could inadvertently be subscribed to your newsletter even though he didn’t actually request to be on your list.

The third thing the confirmation email does is confirm that the entered email address is valid.  The confirmation message is sent to the address the subscriber entered into the Web form on your subscription pages and he will not receive the message if the address is invalid. Therefore, you are not stuck with a bunch of ‘dead’ email addresses.

Your first email message is often called the ‘Thank You’ message. To avoid being accused of spamming, use this message to both thank your subscribers and tell them when and where they subscribed to your newsletter.  This is also the all important courtesy letter and reminds subscribers that they did, in fact subscribe to your newsletter.

Another way of avoiding being accused of spamming is to include an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every message you send out.  This is a link that subscribers can click on if they choose that they no longer want to be subscribed to your newsletter.  Also, include your name and mailing address on the bottom of your email messages.

Increasingly, ISP’s are using filtering systems to keep Spam out of inboxes and sometimes, they accidentally filter the email that you want to receive. To help alleviate this problem, you can ask your subscribers to place your emails and domains on their safe list and add them to their address books.

You should also spam-check your ezine messages. One way of doing this is to use the SiteSellSpamCheck Tool. The reply you will receive is a report telling you how good or bad your email is and what corrections you should make from a spam-detector’s point of view.
